Ancestral Café opened a new location in Lima’s Historic Center, inside an old house just a few blocks from the Plaza de Armas. Their first café is in Barranco, but this spot in the center offers a different experience. The building keeps its colonial architecture, with high ceilings and spacious rooms. Upon entering, the fountain in the middle of the room and the antique decorations immediately stand out, giving the space a sense of history without feeling heavy. There are different seating areas, from large tables to quieter corners, depending on what’s needed.
The menu combines specialty coffee with Creole cuisine and bar options. The beans come from Uchubamba, Limaní variety, and are prepared with a clean, balanced profile. Cappuccinos and americanos are served with a small cookie, a simple touch that adds to the experience.
The food menu includes both light dishes and more filling options. The açaí bowl comes with mango, blueberries, strawberry, and banana, served in generous portions. Toast with scrambled eggs and avocado is well-executed, and the ham and cheese sandwich is simple and straightforward. Flavors are clear and direct.
Live music is offered on certain days, Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., which livens up the atmosphere without disturbing the calm of the space. The size and layout of the café make it easy to move around and enjoy coffee or food in different areas as needed.
Ancestral blends history, architecture, and food naturally, creating a comfortable spot to enjoy coffee and simple dishes in a space full of character.
